Fields of gold

Getting used to being in my home, as a holiday location, has been diffilcukl but actually easier than I thought.
The sky is low and heavy but the temperature is warm and calm. The old mans back is getting better by the day, but the daughter is in the most frightful pain. She has a dead leg, cant do anything very much, walking ,breathing, writing, everything is a difficult negotiation. BUT we have the best people working on her and all being well by the weekend she will be standing up straight and feeling her foot again.
Not being able to heal her instanty is hard for me as I am Mrs. Fix-It. So it’s a lesson in patience for us all.

Back to basics

The old git’s chipped a bone on his spine. Knackered his back.
The daughter has trapped a nerve, knackered her back.
The mother has scarred her lung, knackered her back.
Back to back problems which had me feeling desolate.
I stood one-legged on my wobble cushion this morning, its meant to strengthen the ankle, gazing at the’oosbind who was still asleep. He’s spent the last four nights on the armchair in the sitting room his back too bad for him to lie down in the bed.
I stared at him and thought how were we going to holiday in France with him being so broken.

Oy Story 1

This morning I left early. I put on white trousers, that are now way to big, a white t-shirt that within two minutes was smeared with lipstick whilst putting it over my head, my Nike Free 3 trainers that make my feet smell like a rotten silage barn, and a Moschino jacket that now fits me. I bought it 8 years ago in a designer sale in Debenhams. It has come right back into fashion….
I had a lime green bag swung over my shoulder, I think it belonged to an ex-lodger, at least I don’t remember buying it and I was ready for anything.
I got to St. Mary’s Church by the river and there they were.
20 geese a gawking. Looking out over the Thames, waiting for something to happen. Their heads turned in every direction of the compass. I worried in case it was an odd number thinking if geese pair for life and there’s only 19 somebody has copped it.
As it turned out my 20 geese were all in tact. Preening themselves, paddling about and generally looking like they belonged.

Sob Story

It’s only Tuesday and it already feels like the middle of next week.
This evening I went to see TOY STORY 3. Imagine an audience of young, trendy media folk and me. imagine an audience with paper and pens, ready to criticise all wearing ridiculous three D glasses.
I sat, dying for the loo, from the beginning but reluctant to leave the screening room in case I missed anything.

Just how much can a girl fit into a day?
Robin Wlliams, The Mayor of London, The Duchess of Cornwall, Safe houses in Sheperds Bush, ‘The Railway Children’ at Waterloo Station, the ‘oosbind, the daughter in Hackney, the mother it Herfordshire.
This morning I was up at 6.30 to do half an hour of excrutiating exercises so that my stomach learns to tighten up and not hang down to my knees.

Birthday Season

The weekend went by in a flash.
Bella’s birthday on Thursday, John’s birthday on Friday, Anitas birthday bash on Saturday, Nick’s birthday on Sunday, Sasha and Brigits birthday today, Barbara’s on Wednesday, Louis’ on Friday, Thank God Hilda died otherwise it would have been a full house. Time it was I used to buy birthday cards in bulk, now I make a phone call.
Talking of which Jim’s touring has meant we have tripled our phone bill. He doesn’t know yet.

How do you prepare to interview ROBIN WILLIAMS?
You don’t sleep, you read until 2.15a.m. You have a shower wash your hair, put on some lipstick, a pair of dungarees and believe that he has to be a decent human being otherwise you couldn’t love him as much as you do.
How do you prepare to interview BOBCAT GOLDTHWAIT, just the same way as you did Robin Williams.
Their new film THE WORLDS GREATEST DAD is funny, rude, gripping, thoughtful, charming and honest. I loved it. I hope I didn’t sound like I was licking too much Hollywood ass when I was interviewing them.
Mr. Williams is hairy, small and huggable.
The angels stepped in and helped out with the questions.
I did that first thing this morning.

The daughter put her hand on my shoulder at 7.30 this morning, I had actually been up but had fallen back to sleep, she jiggled me awake.
I put on the same clothes as yesterday, packed a little shoulder bag and went down to the garage to pick up Nellie.
I unlocked the postbox on route. A bill, so I thought, from BT, the relief when it was just one of those letters that starts to tell you how much you can save for family and friends if you play Twister on a Monday , eat fried beans on Tuesday and share a mobile with a mobster in Streatham on the last Friday of every month. I didn’t get beyond the fourth line.
Drove the car out into the morning sunshine by which time B appeared on the stairs.
