Christmas Cheerios

Christmas day was full of ice
Sunday day was drippy
Boxing day was full of fog
And yesterday was slippy
The Christmas tree is leaking pine
The mistletoe has wilted
The Christmas cake is but a crumb
And the stilton all but stilted.

The ham is just a tiny wedge
The onions all but pickled
The last of all the mincing pies
Are well and truly lickelled.
The wrapping paper fills the bin
The cards are stacked and shuffled
The box of biscuits empty now
The candles dripped and snuffled.
The relatives have all gone home
The beddings in the basket
The soiled towels and flanneled cloths
Are tiskets in a tasket.
The New Year looms just hours away
Whilst this years gloom still lingers
As well as all the sticky stains
From spoilt childrens fingers.
The Sky Plus broke so damn it all
I missed the Corrie tram crash
As well as Betty’s speech at three
And Ronnie’s 80th birth bash.
The gifts have all been stuffed away
The bank account diminshed
It has been fun, but knackering
So thank God it’s frigging finished….

  4. I Love bit of poetic cheer at this time year…..something else rhymes with that, but my brain’s in neutral. I’m on catch up. Five days before Christmas i was in and out of bed with some kind of ‘flu thing,’ or was it the grim reaper…whatever it was, it was uuuuugly! -It is most unlike me to sucome to the buggers at any time of the year. So i was delighted because it only lasted a few days, and i was lucky enough to get my Elf back in time for Christmas!
I hope it’s not too late to say that I dearly hope that everyones Christmas was and continues to be filled with Love and Light. May the Angels continue to enfold and God Bless One and All.
    Love and Light, LV.
