Jack’s Place

I ran.
I wrote.
I really enjoyed me meal with Jim at JACKS.
Jack Talkington was a ‘pound a round’ boxer,he met Jimmy Carter’s brother, who worked for the White House security team so now all of Jack’s restaurant walls are covered with pictures of The American President and lots of other yankee memorabilia.
There are more pictures of Royalty on the walls than there are in Clarence House.
There’s a picture of Positano where his Italian Butcher came from.
Jack likes to hang everything on the wall.
Ties, hang like laburnum fruit from the rafters and the bar.
Jack maintains that eating should be relaxing so if you go into his restaurant wearing a tie he will cut it off. The ties hang there to prove that Jack’s true to his word.
His grandaughter,Cindy, served me lamb chops and Jim a steak the size of Arkansas both cooked by her mother.
The Chelsea football team used to eat there every Sunday, the couple next to us were there to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary AND there’s a picture on the wall of Jack Nicholson who visited Jack in Battersea.
Jack’s over 70, the restaurant has been there years.
We discovered it tonight.
I am now too full to write anything else.
Happy Friday, I agree with you, I think fireworks should be banned but I do like the display.
What a conundrum.
night night

  1. Hi Jeni!
Your description of Cabaret sounded very parallel to my daily grind at the moment. It has been a very tumultuous time this week with the director being fired and a show doctor coming in today. Sets being cut, scenes changed and changed again, arrangements lengthened, shortened, changed……ahhhhhh!
Art isn’t easy – and this isn’t even close to it:-)
Anyway, to the tune of that famous Inglebert Humperdink song: “Please delete me, let me go…”
Watch your fingers, they know not what they do:-)
    Take care, luv from Hamburg,
    Glenn
